Why Most Managers and Leaders Suck
What are we so afraid of?
We all seem to know a leader or manager like this guy in the picture. Sadly, one of the most common fatal flaws of leaders is surrounding him/herself with administrative yes-men … you’ve probably seen these types (and perhaps, God forbid, you are one), which leads to a culture of blame, resentment and scapegoating. It’s certainly not an environment that attracts the shining stars of an industry.
Most Managers and Leaders Suck Because…
Admittedly, I don’t understand this character flaw personality type, but it seems to me that these “leaders” are driven by FEAR…fear of inadequacy, fear of being “found out,” fear of success, fear of…of…I don’t know what.
Since these types of leaders tend to avoid hiring rock star team members who are bolder and brighter than themselves, this ultimately puts a cap on the organization’s ability to innovate and achieve sustainable growth. Is this the kind of organization you’d want to be associated with?
